My plan was to propose to my girlfriend after a dinner we had planned together at one of our favorite restaurants in town. We had recently moved in together and I had gotten her a puppy for her birthday a couple months earlier that I wanted to incorporate into the proposal. When we went out to dinner, I had my friend come over. I had purchased a new collar and a pendant to hang on the collar that read..."Will you marry my daddy?" My friend switched out the collars and I told him to leave her regular one in the doorway when you walk in. When we got home, my girlfriend saw the collar and started to freak out. "Where's the dog, what's wrong with her?" I told her to call for her and the pup came running over and jumped up into her mother's arms. My girlfriend then finally noticed the new charm and just looked at me and asked me if this was real. At that time, I was behind her down on one knee holding out a Ring Pop (she had a dream a while back that I proposed with one). I told her it was true and she just began to sob. At that time I took out the real engagement ring and popped the question. My girlfriend, still crying, took the ring pop and started licking it. I had
to ask if her licking it was a "yes" then. She did then say yes and I was able to put her engagement ring on her finger. It was a real surprise to her because she is hard to surprise and didn't think I would be able to, so just happy it all came together how I thought it up.

Our Love ......
It will be our twenty eighth wedding Anniversary this October so it isfitting for me to recall how special my beloved husband really is. We met in 1985 during a difficult time in my life. From the day we began dating, my sweet husband wanted to take care of me. Being a hard worker, he helped build my confidence while supporting my goals and aspirations. Two years later, on Christmas Eve, he proposed to me bent on one knee. I accepted immediately and he put the beautiful ring on my finger. Later, I learned from the jeweler that every single Thursday (pay day) for two years, my husband would drive straight from work to the Jewelry Store in order to hand over cash for my ring. He wanted to pay for this ring before asking for my hand in marriage because he felt that meant more. Only problem being...my husband worked in a Stone Quarry as a welder and tracked dust along his path on the carpet in the store. The jeweler laughed and said he waited until Thursday's to vacuum. Twenty eight years later, we have been through cancer, chronic illness, loss of loved ones and most importantly, the honor of raising two beautiful daughters both in college and whom we adore. I wake up each day feeling blessed to still have my husband's love and admiration. He is the best and He still gives me butterflies.
P.S....yes, I kept all those weekly receipts from my ring in my "hope chest"
to pass down to our girls.
